A Personal Update About Police Contact and a Reported Temporary Restraining Order
What I understand about a report made to police in Illinois, my call to the West Milford Police Department, and what I was told about a temporary restraining order and an upcoming hearing.
Police where I live in Illinois were recently given descriptions of my mental health that I dispute. When I called police in New Jersey afterward, I was told that a temporary restraining order had been granted and that a hearing was coming up. This is my account of what happened and what I was told.
The report I dispute
My understanding is that my mother, Luisa Fernanda Galvis Mora, contacted police where I live in Illinois from New Jersey. As I understand it, she told them that I was bipolar, that I was experiencing a manic episode, and that I was suicidal or about to harm myself. I dispute those descriptions.
I believe this was another attempt to have me hospitalized against my wishes. That is how I interpret what happened, not something I can establish about anyone else’s intentions. It connects to experiences I have already described in this story, including my earlier hospitalizations and the recent clinical reassessment I have reported. I do not experience this as a separate event from that history.
My call to West Milford police
After learning about that contact, I called the West Milford Police Department and tried to give them the number for a police report I had filed in Illinois. I remember having difficulty getting them to accept the number. They eventually did take it, but I came away feeling unheard and unsupported. I do not know what action will follow.
During that call, I was told that a judge had granted a temporary restraining order concerning allegations of harassment and that a hearing was coming up in New Jersey. I am describing what police told me by phone. It is not my description of the written order or of any final court decision.
I was also told that I would need to be served locally. I was left uncertain about when that would happen and how much notice I would have before the hearing. If I had not made that call, I am concerned I might not have learned about the hearing when I did.
The separate 2024 context
I have added the March 2024 messages and an unsigned copy of a proposed civil restraints agreement in a separate chapter. That earlier proposal is not the reported 2026 order discussed here. It does not establish a current removal deadline, arrest outcome, or permission to disregard any order. Keeping the periods separate lets me show the history without turning an older proposal into the terms of a later proceeding.
Why I am sharing this update
I have not spoken to my parents since I moved away last year. I stand by the account of my experiences that I have shared here, and I dispute the characterization of my story as harassment. I feel pressured to stop speaking about what I remember and what I have lived through.
I remain committed to telling my story responsibly. This update belongs alongside the longer account of leaving New Jersey, building my life in Chicago, and finding my way home.
